“When there are ‘downs’, there would be ‘ups’.” said a person I met during my days in the warehouse doing administrative work.
I was really thankful to those words as it had kept me motivated to continue moving forward.
I look back and I felt like I was really a clueless piece of blank paper.
Today, I came to a realisation that I have learnt so much from the society and I’m continually striving to become a more matured adult.
Learning how to deal with
There are no doubt that we are all unique; holding onto different sets of values. But there’s something wrong if the set of values you are holding on to are diverted to a wrong direction.
Every other day, there will be customers coming down to collect their gowns. That one day, I met this customer who came to collect their gowns with her mum just like every other graduates.
Something that I have took away from this new job is that be confident and firm when you need to so that people would take you seriously.
I must say that this is especially useful when I had to deal with problematic customers. Ever since I have picked up this skill, I have had it easier when interacting with people in general.
Pros and cons
While there are pros, there will be cons. The pros are that I see a meaning in what I’m doing now and that I get trained on job.
The cons will be that it’s a 6 day work week job which mean that there would be less time to rest and do my personal things as well as less social lifestyle.
I hope that by the end of 1 year, all these sacrifices would be paid off by having an extra skill set and a piece of good testimonial which would be successful in getting me into the university that I aim to get into.
Little milestones
I am seeing all these sacrifices and effort that I am putting into doing as little milestones that would get me nearer to my aim every single day.
I guess that is also how I kept myself motivated to get through every brand new day.
Something to look forward to
In my opinion, it’s important to have something you look forward to. It’s a form of inner sustenance where mainly because it feels rewarding when you finally get the thing you were looking forward to.
You would probably start to feel good about yourself and become a more positive and healthy person.
Living the moment
I used to worry about the future but after so many things had happened, I have learnt to live the moment.
Today is a present, yesterday was a past and tomorrow is the future. We can’t undo the past while we could learn from it. We live today as a brand new day because we have to unbox today like a present. Tomorrow is unpredictable as it is the future.
So why worry about the future or the past when today is your present? You will have a great time trying to unbox every other new day :)
